Grandma R.’s Breakfast Gravy

for Biscuits and Gravy

Grandkid favorite!  Whenever we come to visit, Grandma always makes her biscuits and gravy. She doesn’t use a recipe, so Jamie and I have watched her make it several times each in order to compile this recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb breakfast sausage (we like Jimmy Dean)
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 cans evaporated milk

Directions

Brown sausage, add oil and then flour, and brown some more.  In a separate bowl, add milk & same amount of water.  Turn off burner and add milk mixture all at once.  Keep stirring.  Turn on burner and bring to a boil. Let the gravy boil 1-2 minutes.  Add extra milk if gravy is to thick.  Salt and pepper to taste.
