Ingredients (bread)
- 1 package yellow cake mix
- 5 cups flour
- 2 packages (1/4 oz) yeast
- 2 1/2 cups warm water
Directions (bread)
Combine cake mix flour and yeast in a large bowl. Stir in water. Cover and let rise until doubled in bulk.
Cut dough in half. Roll first half of dough into a large rectangle on floured surface. Spread with butter and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar. Roll up jelly-roll fashion and cut into 12 slices. Place rolls in a greased 9×13 pan. Repeat with second half of dough. (At this point you can freeze your rolls). Let rise in pan until doubled.
Preheat oven to 375 ยบ.
Ingredients (topping)
- 1 cup butter
- 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup light corn syrup
- 1 cup chopped nuts
Directions (topping)
For topping, combine all ingredients. Pour evenly over rolls. Bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
If you freeze your cinnamon rolls during step 2, a nice way to thaw them is to put the frozen rolls in the refrigerator the night before and they will be ready to bake in the morning.
